Tickets Now on Sale for Major High School Basketball Event 

PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced today, the list of Arizona teams that will be participating in the Hoophall West, a major national high school basketball showcase hosted at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix this coming season.  The event is the west coast version of the original Springfield-based Hoophall Classic, which has featured many of the top prep teams and players over the past 12 years.  
 
Hoophall West will launch in 2013 with five major high school basketball powerhouse programs in a National Showcase, as well as eight Arizona high schools in a Regional Showcase.  The Regional games will begin with on-campus pool play games November 26, 27 and 29 to determine the final matchups as part of the culminating event with the National teams during December 13-14 at Grand Canyon University.
 
Arizona schools participating: 
 
Avondale Westview – Record Last Season: 21-8; Head Coach: Brendan McEnvoy; Player of Interest:  Andre Adams (6-8, 2014).
 
Scottsdale Chaparral – Record Last Season: 22-8; Head Coach: Dan Petersen; Player of Interest:  Kenzo Nudo (6-3, 2015).
 
Gilbert – Record Last Season:  24-8, Elite 8; Head Coach: Jay Caserio; Player of Interest: Anthony Bryant (5-10, 2014).
 
Gilbert Mesquite – Record Last Season: 11-14; Head Coach: Dustin Cooper; Player of Interest:  Zach Green (6-4, 2014).
 
Goodyear Millennium – Record Last Season: 24-6; Head Coach: Mike Lopez; Player of Interest: Elston Jones (6-10, 2014).
 
Phoenix Shadow Mountain – Record Last Season: 24-7; Head Coach: Jerry Conner; Player of Interest: Carlos Johnson (6-4, 2016).
 
Scottsdale Desert Mountain – Record Last Season:  25-6, Final Four; Head Coach: Kurt Keener; Player of Interest: Rolando Rhymes (5-10, 2014).
 
Tempe Corona del Sol  – Record Last Season: 29-4, State Champion; Head Coach: Sam Duane, Jr.; Player of Interest: Casey Benson (6-3, 2014).

The Arizona based schools will join the previously announced national schools for Hoophall West.   The teams scheduled to participate include Bishop Gorman/Las Vegas, NV; Oak Hill Academy/Mouth of Wilson, VA; Yates/Houston, TX; Mater Dei/Santa Ana, CA; Orange Lutheran/Orange, CA.
 
“The now complete field for the inaugural Hoophall West is a great mix of the nation’s top high school basketball programs and elite teams from the Phoenix area,” said Jerry Colangelo, Chairman of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Board and special advisor to the President of GCU. “We look forward to hosting both the best in Arizona basketball and the best basketball from around the country to Phoenix in December.”
 
Grand Canyon University will serve as the host for this year’s event. Hoophall West games will be played at Grand Canyon University Arena, which is a 5,000-seat, 135,000-square-foot-multi-purpose entertainment and athletics facility centrally located in Phoenix.  As part of the event, dozens of students from Grand Canyon’s Colangelo School of Sports Business will participate in the development, management and production of Hoophall West as part of their course curriculum.
 
The final schedule and match-ups for all Hoophall West games will be announced in the fall.

The Spalding Hoophall Classic – Springfield, MA (Original Version)
The Spalding Hoophall Classic is one of the nation’s premier high school basketball event held at Blake Arena on the campus of Springfield College in Springfield, MA. In over 12 years, the event has showcased talents of several NBA stars including Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City), Anthony Davis (New Orleans), Kyrie Irving (Cleveland), Tristan Thompson (Cleveland), Brandon Knight (Detroit), Kemba Walker (Charlotte), Josh Selby (Memphis), Cory Joseph (San Antonio), and Tobias Harris (Milwaukee).
