Eastbay and Spalding Announce All-Showcase First and Second Teams for 2022 Hoophall Classic

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (Jan. 20, 2022) — With the 2022 Spalding Hoophall Classic presented by Eastbay officially in the books, Eastbay and Spalding are proud to reveal the highly touted All-Showcase Teams, celebrating the top 10 performers at the 2022 showcase, regardless of position.

The student-athletes named to the Eastbay All-Showcase First Team include: Ian Jackson (Cardinal Hayes High School – Bronx, NY), Kyle Filipowski(Wilbraham & Monson Academy – Wilbraham, MA), Marvel Allen (Calvary Christian Academy – Fort Lauderdale, FL), Mark Mitchell (Sunrise Academy – Bel Aire, KS) and Jalen Hood-Schifino (Montverde Academy – Montverde, FL).

Jackson led Cardinal Hayes to a dominating win over De La Salle Institute with a game-high 30 points. Filipowski dropped 28 points and added 10 rebounds in his team’s win over Life Christian Academy. Allen added 22 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals in a victory over Camden. Mitchell earned Most Outstanding Player in back-to-back days after averaging 25 points and 10 rebounds in Sunrise Academy’s two wins at Hoophall Classic. In two games for Montverde Academy, Hood-Schifino averaged 15.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 9 assists and 3.5 steals, including a triple-double vs. DeMatha Catholic (12 pts/11 reb/13 asst).  

The list of Spalding All-Showcase Second Team honorees features: Naasir Cunningham (Gill St. Bernard’s High School – Gladstone, NJ), Keyonte George (IMG Academy – Bradenton, FL), Judah Mintz (Oak Hill Academy – Mouth of Wilson, VA), Taylor Hendricks (Calvary Christian Academy – Fort Lauderdale, FL), Donovan Clingan (Bristol Central High School – Bristol, CT). 

Cunningham averaged 17 points and 8.5 rebounds across two contests in the event, including a 23-point, 11-rebound performance in a 70-60 victory over Westtown School. In one of the most anticipated matchups of the showcase between Montverde Academy and IMG Academy on Monday, Keyonte George helped IMG pull out a victory with a 17-point performance. Mintz averaged 16.5 points over two games for Oak Hill, including a game-high 22 points in a win over LaLumiere. Hendricks posted an 18-point, 12-rebound double-double for Calvary Christian in their win over Camden. Clingan, who recorded one of the most dominant performances of the showcase, put up a 24-point, 16-rebound, 10-block triple-double in Bristol Central’s victory over Springfield Central. 

With 60 teams featured in Springfield, Mass., the birthplace of basketball, the Eastbay and Spalding All-Showcase Teams were decided by industry-leading media partners attending and reporting on the event, based on the players’ performance during the 2022 Spalding Hoophall Classic Presented by Eastbay.

In addition to the All-Showcase Teams, Eastbay also celebrated the Most Outstanding Player Award for each of the 30 matchups.  A complete list of recognized student-athletes as selected by the Basketball Hall of Fame committee is below.
