Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Announces 2016 Western Massachusetts High School Players of the Year

Mar 14, 2016 - The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced today the recipients of the sixth annual Western Massachusetts Player of the Year awards - Tyonne Malone of Putnam Vocational Technical Academy and Callie Cavanaugh of Holyoke High School. The awards are presented annually at the Western Massachusetts Senior High School All-Star Games held Friday, March 25th on the Jerry Colangelo Court of Dreams at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Five Finalists Announced for 2016 Lieberman Award

Final Five Candidates Announced for 2016 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award

Mar 11, 2016 - The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced today the five finalists for the 2016 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award. Named after Hall of Famer and three-time NCAA Champion Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the annual honor in its second year recognizes the top centers in Division I men’s college basketball. A committee comprised of top college basketball personnel narrowed the original watch list of 20 candidates down to 10 and now the final five.

Basketball Hall of Fame on the Passing of Clyde Lovellette, Class of 1988

Mar 10, 2016 - Clyde Lovellette, enshrined as a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1988, has passed away at the age of 86. “As a legend at Kansas, one of the most storied programs in the country, and an NBA veteran, Clyde Lovellette achieved excellence at every level of the game,” said John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Basketball Hall of Fame. “He was big in stature, as well as personality, and will be remembered fondly by those who had the pleasure of knowing him in the basketball community and beyond.”
