Fifteen Candidates Announced for First-Ever Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award

Feb 16, 2015 - The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced today the fifteen watch list members for the 2015 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award. Named after Hall of Famer and three-time NCAA Champion Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the annual honor in its inaugural year recognizes the top centers in men’s college basketball. The watch list of 15 candidates was determined by a national committee comprised of top college basketball personnel.

Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Announces Twelve Finalists for 2015 Election

Feb 14, 2015 - The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced today, at NBA All-Star Weekend, six elite players, five outstanding coaches and one iconic referee as finalists from the North American and Women’s committees to be considered for election in 2015. This year’s list includes nine first-time finalists: 39-year NBA referee Dick Bavetta, two-time College Coach of the Year John Calipari, two-time NBA Coach of the Year Bill Fitch, all-time winningest boys high school coach Robert Hughes, eight-time NBA All-Star Dikembe Mutombo, four-time Division III national champion coach Bo Ryan, seven-time NBA All-Star Jo Jo White, the all-time winningest high school coach Leta Andrews and three-time WNBA MVP Lisa Leslie. Previous finalists included again this year for consideration are five-time NBA All-Star Tim Hardaway, four-time NBA All-Star Spencer Haywood and three-time NBA All-Star Kevin Johnson.

Five Direct-Elect Members Announced for the Class of 2015 by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame

Feb 14, 2015 - The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced today the first five members of the Class of 2015. These specific categories were directly elected by distinguished committees focused on preserving all areas from the game of basketball. These Direct-Elects include Louie Dampier voted in from the American Basketball Association (ABA) Committee, Lindsay Gaze from the International Committee, Tom Heinsohn from the Veterans Committee, John Isaacs from the Early African American Pioneers Committee, and George Raveling from the Contributor Direct Election Committee.

Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Announces Basketball Clinics In Conjunction with Charity Golf Classic

Feb 12, 2015 - The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced today the details regarding the Hall of Fame Youth Clinics presented by Wendy’s that will be held at Immokalee and Community School of Naples on Monday, February 16th. The clinics are focused around creating awareness of the issues surrounding today’s youth, by inspiring and encouraging them through character education and positive messages beyond the basketball court.
