Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame to Receive $75,000 Contribution from Chicopee Savings Bank Charitable Foundation

Nov 08, 2017 - Springfield, Mass. — Early in 2015, Jerry Colangelo, Chairman of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame’s Board of Governors, announced the launch of the Basketball Hall of Fame’s “It’s Time to Step Forward” Capital Campaign to support the renovation of the museum and solidify the Hall’s endowment. In the nearly three years since, $25 million has been pledged, primarily from members of the national basketball community. Today, the Chicopee Savings Bank Charitable Foundation announces its gift of 75 thousand dollars to the campaign, joining several other Massachusetts-based entities in support of the Hall.

Nov 08, 2017 - SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association announced today the 20 watch list candidates for the 2018 Cheryl Miller Award. Named after the three-time Naismith Player of the Year, the annual award in its inaugural year recognizes the top small forwards in women’s NCAA Division I college basketball.

Nov 07, 2017 - SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association announced today the 20 watch list candidates for the 2018 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award. Named after the first player, male or female, named to the All-America Team in four straight college seasons, the annual award in its inaugural year recognizes the top shooting guard in women’s NCAA Division I college basketball.

Now in its nineteenth year, the award recognizes the top point guard in women’s NCAA Division I college basketball. Candidates exhibit the floor leadership, play-making and ball-handling skills of Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman.

Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, WBCA Announce Four New Women’s College Basketball Awards

Nov 02, 2017 - SPRINGFIELD, MASS. - In collaboration with ESPN, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) are proud to announce the addition of four inaugural women’s college basketball awards. Similar to the men’s awards which were introduced during the 2014-15 season, the Hall of Fame and the WBCA will now present an award honoring the best player at each of the five positions in the women’s game. The partnership between the Basketball Hall of Fame, the WBCA, and ESPN demonstrates the continuing commitment of each entity to honor the women’s game on all levels.
