Final Five Candidates Announced for 2016 Jerry West Award

Mar 09, 2016 - The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced today the five finalists for the 2016 Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award. Named after Hall of Famer and 1959 NCAA Final Four Most Valuable Player Jerry West, the annual honor in its second year recognizes the top shooting guards in Division I men’s college basketball. A national committee comprised of top college basketball personnel narrowed the original watch list of 20 candidates down to 10 and now the final five.

Mar 07, 2016 - The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced today the five finalists for the 2016 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award presented by College of the Holy Cross. Named after Hall of Famer and former Boston Celtic and Holy Cross guard Bob Cousy, the annual honor now in its thirteenth year recognizes the top point guards in men’s division one college basketball. A national committee comprised of top college basketball personnel narrowed the original watch list of 20 candidates down to 10 and now the final five.

Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Announces Selections for 2016 Western Massachusetts Senior All-Star Games

Feb 26, 2016 - The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced today the team rosters for the 2016 Western Massachusetts Senior High School All-Star Games. The 2016 All-Star event will be held on Friday, March 25 on the Jerry Colangelo Court of Dreams at the Hall of Fame. A total of 60 players were selected from different divisions within the region to participate in three games that will showcase the top seniors in their final high school contest.

Congressman Richard E. Neal (MA) Introduces House Bill, Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Commemorative Coin Act

Feb 26, 2016 - Announced this week, a house bill has been introduced to mint an exclusive commemorative coin in recognition of the 60th Anniversary of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2019. Introducing the bill to the House of Representatives was Congressman Richard E. Neal of Massachusetts, the primary bill sponsor, and co-sponsor Congressman Thomas J. Rooney. Senator Elizabeth Warren and Senator John McCain will also support the venture.
