Nov 09, 2017 - SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association announced today the 20 watch list candidates for the 2018 Katrina McClain Award. Named after the two-time All-American and 1987 National Player of the Year, the annual award in its inaugural year recognizes the top power forwards in women’s NCAA Division I college basketball.

Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame to Receive $75,000 Contribution from Chicopee Savings Bank Charitable Foundation

Nov 08, 2017 - Springfield, Mass. — Early in 2015, Jerry Colangelo, Chairman of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame’s Board of Governors, announced the launch of the Basketball Hall of Fame’s “It’s Time to Step Forward” Capital Campaign to support the renovation of the museum and solidify the Hall’s endowment. In the nearly three years since, $25 million has been pledged, primarily from members of the national basketball community. Today, the Chicopee Savings Bank Charitable Foundation announces its gift of 75 thousand dollars to the campaign, joining several other Massachusetts-based entities in support of the Hall.

Named after the first player, male or female, named to the All-America Team in four straight college seasons, the annual award in its inaugural year recognizes the top shooting guard in women’s NCAA Division I college basketball.

Now in its nineteenth year, the award recognizes the top point guard in women’s NCAA Division I college basketball. Candidates exhibit the floor leadership, play-making and ball-handling skills of Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman.
