SPRINGFIELD, MA – The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced today the matchup of the fifth annual Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase on Saturday, November 17 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT. Local favorite and 11-time National Champions UConn (American Athletic Conference) will take on Vanderbilt (Southeastern Conference).

“Now in its fifth year, the Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase has become a storied event held annually at Mohegan Sun,” said John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. “Last year’s fans saw Geno’s historic 1000th win and we expect this year’s contest to be equally exciting. We are grateful to our outstanding partners, Citi and Mohegan Sun, and look forward to once again hosting fans in this premier venue.”

For the first time, the Women’s Showcase will be taking place the same weekend as the previously announced Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament, held November 16-18 at Mohegan Sun Arena. Teams scheduled to participate in this year’s Tip-Off Tournament are George Washington University, College of the Holy Cross, University of Michigan, Norfolk State University, Providence College, Siena College, University of South Carolina and Stony Brook University.

“We are excited to be playing in the Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase at Mohegan Sun. To have an opportunity to play against UConn, a program with a tradition of excellence both on and off the court, will be a challenge but one we are looking forward to,” said Stephanie White, Vanderbilt head coach. “We believe that we have to play the best to be the best and this will be a great opportunity for our team.”

UConn head Coach Geno Auriemma echoed this by saying, “we are excited to play in the Basketball Hall of Fame Showcase for the fifth straight season. Our fans create an incredible environment in Mohegan Sun Arena, and I think they’re in for a great game against Vanderbilt.”

General public tickets will go on sale Friday, September 7 at 10am ET via all Ticketmaster outlets and the Mohegan Sun Arena box office. Game time, television details an exclusive pre-sale opportunity via Citi, will be released at later date.
