Division I College Basketball Returns to Springfield

 

Springfield, Mass –The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced today the field of teams for the Basketball Hall of Fame Classic to be held at MassMutual Center on Saturday, December 17, 2022.  This marks the return of NCAA Division I college basketball to the City of Springfield.  The MassMutual Center and the Hall of Fame last hosted games in 2015.

 

The one-day double-header will feature the following games:

University of Massachusetts vs. University of North Texas

Bryant University vs. Liberty University

 

“We are very excited to return to MassMutual Center and bring Division I college basketball back to the City of Springfield,” said John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Basketball Hall of Fame. “The City of Springfield has a long history in hosting college basketball and we look forward to providing a unique experience to the four teams participating in the Hall of Fame Classic and their fans including visitation to the Basketball Hall of Fame.  We hope this is the return of annual tradition for the City.”

The Basketball Hall of Fame Classic is one event in the Hall of Fame’s series of collegiate events, which continues to grow in an effort to celebrate the game outside the museum walls.
