Basketball Hall of Fame Announces Winners of 2016 Morgan Wootten Award

Feb 09, 2016 - Dwyer & Pappas Honored as Top High School Coaches in the Nation SPRINGFIELD, MASS. — The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced today the winners of the 2016 Morgan Wootten Award for Lifetime Achievement in Coaching High School Basketball. This prestigious award is named after Morgan Wootten, who served as the Head Coach of DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsvile, Maryland for 46 years and is one of two high school coaches enshrined into the Basketball Hall of Fame. The annual award recognizes two outstanding high school coaches, one for boys’ basketball and one for girls’ basketball.

Ten Candidates Announced for 2016 Nancy Lieberman Award

Feb 08, 2016 - The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced today the ten candidates for the 2016 Nancy Lieberman Award. Now in its sixteenth year, the award recognizes the top point guard in women’s NCAA Division I college basketball. Candidates exhibit the floor leadership, play-making and ball-handling skills of Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman. The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame became the host of the Nancy Lieberman Award two years ago after the Rotary Club of Detroit managed it for several years.

2016 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award Narrowed to Ten Finalists

Feb 05, 2016 - Basketball Hall of Fame to Announce Top Five Centers in Early March SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced today the ten watch list finalists for the 2016 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award. Named after Hall of Famer and three-time NCAA Champion Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the annual honor in its second year recognizes the top centers in men’s college basketball. A national committee comprised of top college basketball personnel determined the watch list of 20 candidates in October, which has now been narrowed to just ten.
