Assumption of Risk
The Basketball Hall of Fame and the NBA have implemented health and safety protocols to protect against the exposure of the COVID-19 virus in accordance with federal guidelines. As noted by the CDC, complete isolation from the virus is impossible. Accordingly, the Hall of Fame, the NBA, Mohegan Sun, and the MassMutual Center cannot, and does not promise to eliminate the risk of exposure to COVID-19, and cannot, and does not promise guests will not contract COVID-19. The guest acknowledges that they have been informed that the event is not risk-free, that is possible that the guest may contract COVID-19 or any other communicable disease during his/her presence at the venue, and that the guest freely chooses to enter and/or reside in the venue with the awareness of the associated risks.
Health and Safety Protocols
The below health and safety protocols have been created in an effort to minimize the risk of exposure to the COVID-19 virus. Protocols will include, but are not limited to providing proof of vaccination, testing for the non-vaccinated, and proper protective guidelines. Due to the evolving science behind COVID-19, our health and safety protocols outlined below are subject to change. We will communicate via email, phone, or on our website any update to our protocols to attendees and stakeholders as they occur.
COVID-19 vaccination remains the most effective means to achieve control of the pandemic. We are aware that some of the staff and attendees will be fully vaccinated prior to Enshrinement and some will not be vaccinated. Because vaccination against COVID-19 can result in personal health benefits for vaccinated individuals and because the risks of adverse outcome with COVID-19 infection are higher in unvaccinated individuals, considerations for these two categories of individuals are different. Lastly, because of the high probability that not everyone in attendance or working the event will be fully vaccinated, combined with the high probability that some in attendance or working may have weakened immune systems, we will require everyone to wear a mask regardless of vaccination status.
Guest and Media Vaccination and Testing Protocol
The below protocol applies to all guests and media that are attending any of the Enshrinement events. These protocols must be met in order to attend and to receive event tickets. The protocols are as follows:
- Provide proof of full vaccination (you are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after your second dose in a 2-dose series, or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine),
- Provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result from a test administered no earlier than Thursday, September 9, 2021.
Only upon receipt of one of these will guests receive their tickets. The BHOF will provide a pre-screening questionnaire to all guests in advance for them to submit/upload documents.
Submitting Proof of Vaccination or Negative Test Result
Proof of vaccinations or negative test results can be submitted through a pre-screening questionnaire that the Hall of Fame will provide in advance of the event. If possible, everyone is strongly encourage to submit this in advance to help with the approval and distribution of credentials and tickets.
Proof of vaccinations will only be accepted in the user is fully vaccinated. You are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after your second dose in a two-dose series, such as Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson Jansenn vaccine. Accepted vaccination types include the Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson Jansenn, and any vaccines the World Health Organization lists for emergency use – which also include Sinopharm, Astrazeneca-SK Bio, and Serum Institute of India.
On-Site Point of Care Rapid PCR Testing
In place of the pre-arrival test, those who require testing can register in advance to take an on-site Point of Care Rapid PCR test at Mohegan Sun or the Basketball Hall of Fame through our testing partner, BioReference. BioReference will provide a rapid PCR test to the ticket holder for a $99 fee. Once the test is administered, the person must wait in the designated waiting room until the test result comes back. Through BioReference, test results will be delivered to the ticket holder 45 minutes to one hour after specimen collection. Test provided by BioReference must be scheduled in advance.
It is mandatory for everyone to wear a facemask at all Enshrinement events. Neck gaiters are not allowed. The only time masks can be removed is when actively eating or drinking at social functions. The recommended mask is the KN95 or equivalent. The Basketball Hall of Fame will provide KF94 masks to all attendees.
Recent Positive Test
An individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 within fourteen (14) days of the event will NOT be allowed to attend the event. A guest must be clinically recovered after fourteen days from their first positive test in order to attend the events.
