Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Donations Policy

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the game of basketball and makes charitable donations to eligible non-profit organizations locally that support educational and/or social outreach programs that directly provide year-round academic and/or developmental support for children. We regret that due to the overwhelming volume of requests that we receive, we are not able to fund every proposal.

Guidelines:

  • Donations for use as fundraisers must benefit educational and/or social outreach programs that directly provide year-round academic and /or developmental support for youths.

  • Requests must be submitted with a completed Donation Request Form, along with a letter on the organization's letterhead and all event paperwork and/or write-ups attached. NO PHONE CALLS please. We do not verbally deny or commit to donation requests.

  • A completed Donation Request Form form must be submitted a minimum of six (6) weeks prior to the requested deadline. You will be notified of our decision within at least two (2) weeks of your event.

  • Organizations that receive donations will do so ONLY ONCE per calendar year.

In order to be considered again for a donation, we ask that the organizations which receive a donation from the Hall of Fame return the follow-up report specifying the amount raised by our donation and the amount raised through the fundraising event. This report should be submitted to the Community Relations Department within two months of completion of your fundraising event. This information must be received in order to be eligible for a donation the following calendar year.
