CBS Sports Network to Televise Doubleheader on Friday, December 8

 

PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced today the field of teams and game schedule for the 2017 American Family Insurance Hoophall West, an annual basketball showcase now in its fifth year. The event serves as the west coast version of the original Springfield, Massachusetts-based Hoophall Classic – an event that has featured many of the top prep teams and players for more than 15 years. Hoophall West game action will take place at Chaparral High School in Scottsdale on December 8th and 9th.

“Hoophall West brings together the best in high school basketball on a regional and national level,” said John L. Doleva, President & CEO of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. “We thank American Family Insurance for their continued support which allows us to host these outstanding teams in a first-rate event.”

This year’s marque matchups, which will be televised by CBS Sports Network on Friday, December 8, include Oak Hill Academy (VA) vs. Lone Peak High School (UT) and Shadow Mountain High School (AZ) vs. Chino Hills High School (CA). CBS Sports Network is widely available through all major cable, satellite and telco distributors as well as via OTT streaming service providers YouTube TV, fuboTV, PlayStation Vue, DirecTV and Hulu. Other exciting matchups will feature Chaparral (AZ) vs. Crossroads School (CA), Desert Vista (AZ) vs. Findlay Prep (NV), and Shadow Mountain (AZ) vs. Sierra Canyon (CA). Several matchups will be streamed live online by FloHoops. GameChanger will serve as the official stats provider of the event with live updates available online.

Last year’s Hoophall West games were highlighted by DeAndre Ayton (Arizona), LiAngelo Ball (UCLA), Alex Barcello (Arizona) and Jaren Jackson (Michigan State). This year’s standouts for the Class of 2018 include Timmy Edwards (Red Mountain High School, AZ, Utah), Keldon Johnson (Oak Hill Academy, VA), David McCormack (Oak Hill Academy, VA, Kansas) and Shareef O’Neal (Crossroads School, CA, Arizona). From the Classes of 2019 and 2020, players to watch include Josh Nickelberry (Oak Hill Academy, VA), Onyeka Okongwu (Chino Hills, CA), Marcus Bagley (Sierra Canyon, CA) and Nico Mannion (Pinnacle, AZ).
