Hoophall West returns to Phoenix area with a second year of star-studded matchups
PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced today, the dates for the second annual Hoophall West, a premier national high school basketball event that will be hosted at Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Arizona on November 25, 26, 28 and January 2nd and 3rd, 2015. The event is the west coast version of the original Springfield-based Hoophall Classic, which has featured many of the top prep teams and players over the last 13 years. This year’s event will once again feature five schools from around the country as well as eight of Arizona’s top high school teams.
Teams coming from out of state for January games are DeMatha Catholic (Maryland), Findlay Prep (Nevada), Our Savior New American School (New York), Riverside Academy (Louisiana) and Sierra Canyon High School (California).
“Last year’s Hoophall West was a tremendous success,” said John L. Doleva, President & CEO of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. “We are looking forward to the opportunity of hosting this great field of teams at the state-of-the-art Chaparral High School and we thank the group of committed sponsors, led by Grand Canyon University, that have made this event happen.”
The Regional Showcase will begin with Campus Round pool play games at Chapparal High School in November 25, 26 and 28 around the Thanksgiving holiday. Arizona teams will include Corona Del Sol, Chinle, Pinnacle, Gilbert, Desert Mountain, Shadow Mountain, Westview and Chaparral.

The inaugural Hoophall West attracted many of the nation’s top programs including Bishop Gorman (NV), Orange Lutheran (CA), Oak Hill Academy (VA), Yates High School (TX) and Mater Dei High School (CA).
The 2015 Hoophall West event is supported by Grand Canyon University, MassMutual Financial Group, NABI, Shamrock Farms and Nike. Multiple games are expected to be broadcast nationally in January.
An extension of the Hall of Fame’s Hoophall West event, the Jr. Hoophall West will return to the Phoenix region. Last year, 50 plus youth teams competed in the first year event. For more information on this successful extension, please log onto the tournament website for more details.
