NAPLES, FL – The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced today the details regarding the inaugural Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Charity Golf Classic that will take place at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, FL. Proceeds from the golf event will benefit established charities that have partnered with the Basketball Hall of Fame. This partnership was announced during NBA All-Star weekend in February with the goal of increasing the capacity of the partner organization to help mentor youth. Resources generated through the partnership will be used to build healthy relationships between caring adults and young people.

“We are extremely honored to partner with such special and established charities,” said John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Basketball Hall of Fame. “This is a great opportunity for us to increase the awareness of the issues facing today’s youth, while encouraging and helping to build a brighter future and leaders of tomorrow.”

The event will be held February 16-17, 2015 with the golf classic taking place on Tuesday, February 17th in Naples, FL at Tiburon Golf Club. The event will also include a VIP Pairings Party dinner and auction, a Hall of Famer Roundtable and an Awards Luncheon with over 20 Hall of Fame members and Sports Legends participating. Hall of Fame 2014 class members Alonzo Mourning and Mitch Richmond will also be in attendance.

The Basketball Hall of Fame, including players and coaches, will look to inspire and encourage youth by visiting schools and community centers, speaking and mentoring kids. Communities in Schools was founded in the 1970’s by Bill Milliken, one of the nation’s biggest advocates for leading young people towards graduation and its board is chaired by Elaine Wynn, also the Chairman and Director of Wynn Resorts.  The organization is a nationwide network of professionals working towards the enrichment of children.
