Basketball Hall of Fame, Western Mass. Recovering from Storms
Thursday, June 2, 2011 "We would like to thank everyone for their outreach regarding the violent storms that came through Springfield and Western Massachusetts last night. Fortunately, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame did not have any damage and our staff has all checked in safely. Our Hall of Fame building has become a centralized command center for Springfield Police, Massachusetts State Police, the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency and deployed members of the National Guard. We hope that everyone keeps this region in their thoughts and prayers through the recovery process and our hearts go out to the families who lost loved ones. The Basketball Hall of Fame is very concerned about the Springfield community and we look forward to the rebuilding of our region where the great game of basketball was invented."
- John L. Doleva,
President and CEO of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
