A superb athlete on both the hardwood and the goal field, Vic Hanson is the only player in sports history to be inducted into both the College Football and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Halls of Fame. A legend at Syracuse University, Hanson captured nine varsity letters and guided the basketball team to a three-year record of 48-7, highlighted by the 1925-26 team that went 19-1 and was honored as national champions by the Helms Athletic Foundation. Hanson was named the Helms Athletic Foundation Player of the Year for his senior season. He tallied 280 points, a single-season Syracuse record that remained until 1946. In 1952, renowned sportswriter Grantland Rice named Hanson to his All-Time, All-America team. Hanson played professionally with the Cleveland Rosenblums and then returned to Syracuse to form his own team, The All-Americans of Syracuse.
