Harlan O. "Pat" Page enshrined as player in 1962
Harlan O. "Pat" PageEnshrined 1962 Although regarded as thin, Pat Page's quickness and overall athletic ability made him a national icon. A fabulous three-sport star at the University of Chicago, Page was one of basketball's earliest defensive specialists. In the first decade of the twentieth century, the 5-foot-9, 160-pound southpaw guard frustrated opponents with his intense defense and intelligence on offense. He averaged a stunning for-the-time 10.2 points a game under Hall of Famer Coach Amos Alonzo Stagg and led Chicago through a four-year period of glory when the team thoroughly dominated its opposition. Following his playing days, Page was a successful coach the University of Chicago, the College of Idaho, and at Butler University, where he led the team to the 1924 AAU title.
