Everett N. Case enshrined as a coach in 1982
Everett N. CaseEnshrined 1982 Dynamic and passionate, Everett Case was a brilliant combination of coach, promoter, and motivator and a master at both inspiring his players and exciting the crowds. An animated bench coach the silver-haired "Old Grey Fox" would constantly chew gum and urge his players on with motivational speeches. Case's solid ball-handling teams were quick, up-tempo, and offensive-minded units that delighted his fans everywhere. In 21 seasons at four different high schools, Case was an Indiana scholastic basketball legend, leading Frankfort High School to four state championships. His coaching splendor continued at North Carolina State University from 1946 to 1964 where he compiled a .739 winning percentage and was largely responsible for popularizing basketball in both the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and in North Carolina. Case, who won four Atlantic Coast Conference crowns, was also named ACC Coach of the Year three times.
