David "Dave" Bing enshrined as player in 1990
David "Dave" BingEnshrined 1990 Known for his fluid multi-faceted game, the combination of the graceful Dave Bing's ability as a play maker, his scoring aptitude and his deadeye, outside shooting touch, made him a backcourt whiz and an on-the-court leader. Bing launched his exceptional career at Syracuse University, where he became the school's first consensus All-America in 39 years during a season when he was also the nation's fifth leading scorer (28.4 ppg). Bing's career, although fundamental, was not excessively flashy, and the critics gave him his due, naming him one of the top 50 players in NBA history. After an illustrious collegiate career at Syracuse, Bing was named the NBA's Rookie of the Year in 1967. He played twelve NBA seasons with three teams (Detroit Pistons, Washington Bullets, and Boston Celtics) and averaged 20 points or more seven times. In 1976, Bing was named MVP of the '76 All-Star Game.
