Peter P. "Pete" Maravich Enshrined 1987 Biography Perhaps the greatest creative offensive talent in history, Peter Press Maravich rarely duplicated the same move twice. "Pistol Pete" dazzled the crowd with his Harlem Globetrotter-like dribbling, ability to toss a no-look pass with pinpoint accuracy, or make a fall-away jumper with two defenders draped on him. The court was his personal playground, every night was a show, and no one knew what scoring records he might shatter. In only three years playing for his father Press at LSU, Maravich scored 3,667 points, while averaging an incredible 44.2 ppg -- both NCAA records. Noted for his floppy gray socks and mop of brown hair, Pete set numerous other NCAA, SEC, and school records, and led the NCAA in scoring three times. As a pro, Maravich was a four-time NBA All-Star, and led the NBA league in scoring for the 1977 season, averaging 31.1 ppg for the New Orleans Jazz. Career Highlights
