Amory T. Gill
A gracious gentleman, Amory Gill's manner made him one of the best-liked coaches in the nation. In 36 seasons at Oregon State, "Slats" coached teams that both mirrored his disposition and captured five Pacific Coast Conference titles. His 1949 and 1963 teams placed fourth in the NCAA Championship. As past president of the National Association of Basketball Coaches, Slats coached in the 1964 NABC All-Star Game. A graduate and star athlete at Oregon State, Gill served as the school's director of athletics from 1964 to 1966. The coliseum on Oregon State's campus is named in Gill's honor.
