Hall of Fame opens the Exhibit May 18th, 2008
May 16, 2008 The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame will debut a new exhibit this weekend titled, "Putting Israel on the Map: The Maccabi Tel Aviv Story". Dedicated to telling the story of basketball from a global perspective, the Hall of Fame worked in conjunction with the Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts and the team itself in realizing this exhibit and telling the dominating tales of both basketball and Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israeli culture. Some of the exhibit's highlights include features of two of Maccabi's most celebrated players, Tal Brody and Mickey Berkowitz, who will be joining the festivities on Sunday.
Sunday's debut coincides with the "Hoop It Up for Israel" event from 12-4PM on May 18th, sponsored in part by the Anna P. Housen Israel Desk of The Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts. This event celebrates Israel's 60th birthday and the 75th anniversay of the Maccabi Tel Aviv Team. Check out this article on the Maccabi exhibit from the Jerusalem Post |
